Steven Bradbury OAM is an Australian former short-track speed skater, a four-time Olympian, and the first Australian to win a Winter Olympic gold medal, famously achieved at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games in the 1000m event after his rivals crashed, leading to the term “Doing a Bradbury” for unlikely success. He was also part of the team that won Australia’s first Winter Olympic medal (bronze relay, 1994) and a World Championship gold in the 1991 relay, overcoming severe career-threatening injuries along the way. Post-skating, he became a popular motivational speaker, MC, and commentator.
